Noisy Mama World Music
'Noisy Mama' has come a long way since German drummer and composer Carola Grey found the Jazz-Rock band in New York way back in 1991. Evolving through the decades, the band now specializes in Indian Jazz-Rock. Teaming up with sophisticated Indian artists, Carola weaves Funk and Rock grooves inspired from the traditional ragas and an accentuated blend of western melody.
It's no joke that music brings cultures, religions and traditions together. Perhaps, that's the reason Noisy Mama's music is so well received, equally across Europe and India. After receiving the Munich Music Award and an much acclaimed first album 'Road to Goa', they performed the first big shows in India and later created huge inroads internationally, performing round the world. By creating sounds that leave audiences spellbound, the band is already making huge inroads into the International music calendar.
Born in Munich, Germany; the renowned and electric lady drummer Carola Grey started out as a pianist, before transcending into a magical level of jazz. She spent 6 years in New York working with numerous artists. Soon after, she started her own band and began touring all over the globe. To have total creative control over her art, she founded her own record label: Noisy Mama Productions. Her CDs havemade it into the Top Ten of the U.S. Gavin Jazz charts. She has won a multitude of awards for her outstanding musical prowess in playing the drums.
Lead guitarist Antony John started off his career with big names, way back in 1985. He has worked with A R Rahman, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Sivamaniand the Kenyan Jo Joo. He formed the band, 'Roots', which rocked Chennai and other Indian cities in the late 80's. He is now associated with a number of bands including Bleeding Madras, The Banned, the Yakshas and now Karnatrix.
Bass guitarist Naveen Kumar is an accomplished session artist, based in Chennai. The London Trinity College 8 graderhas performed extensively internationally with some of the most renowned artistes in the music firmament. An extremely versatile musician, Naveen has played bass for the Abu Dhabi Big Band as part of the UAE Philharmonic Orchestra (2007-09), performed with the British Orchestra and has performed at the prestigious Berklee Performance Center in Boston (USA) with the Middle Eastern Ensemble.
Adding electric finesse to the band, pianist Biju Poulose recreates symphonies from a range of Indian Classical and percussion instruments under the clever disguise of his keyboard. He has worked in more than 1000 films and has won the award for the best background score composer in 2000 for his work in "Mazha".
Completing the star studded cast, playback singer Palghat Sreeram projects the beauty of Indian Jazz-Rock through his versatile voice. Though he is more profoundly known for his vocals, sareeram is an accomplished flautist and keyboard player. He has worked with a number of renowned artists in the film industry including the likes of A R Rahman and Harris Jayaraj. He is very much familiar for his all time hit song "Padayappa". He has directed music for a couple of films. He has used his expertise in singing to good effect through various albums he has released over the years.
